October 2023

The Common car park, by the Village Hall, will be closed from Sunday 22 October, pm, to Wednesday 25 October, am. This is to allow for works to be carried out to improve access to the Village Hall and Mulberry and Orchard Parks. Please ensure there are no vehicles left in the car park as access will be closed. Please contact relevant organisations/groups to find out any alternative arrangements.

August 2023

Night time road closure on Norwich Road from 30th August to 6th September between 19:00 to 06:00. 

A big thank you to our volunteer for refurbishing the fingerpost on the Common near the village sign. This time he has gone even further and reinstalled the fingers.

East Anglia Green (pylons) have rebranded to Norwich to Tilbury, as part of the Great Grid Upgrade. The National Grid are holding briefings but if you've not managed to attend one, the slides presented​ are available.

Mulbarton Parish Council are looking for a Parish Warden to carry out general maintenance around the Parish. This is a part time role ideally suited to a self-employed individual. See the job description and personal specification for more details and/or contact the clerk. If you are interested in this role, please email your CV to the mulbartonpcclerk@gmail.com​

The Meadows play area has started to undergo some changes. Apart from the routine maintenance the seized carousel and ramp have been removed. We are now looking at replacement play equipment and we welcome your input. If you have any suggestions about what you would like to see and play on at The Meadows, contact the clerk

The Cubs have being doing a great job litter picking around the skate park and Common play area. This will go towards their Environmental Conservation Badge. Thank you to all involved.

Single lane closure on B1113 from 19 July to mid August between 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Road closure at Cuckoofield Lane, junction with Lark Rise on 6 July to enable Anglian Water to carry out some works.

Many thanks to all who attended our Annual Parish Meeting on 13 June at the Jubilee Rooms. It was fantastic to hear from some many groups and residents. You gave the council a lot to talk about at their strategy session immediately after the meeting. 4 May elections - the number of nominations did not exceed the number of vacancies so there will be no Parish Elections. See the notice of result of uncontested election

This does mean we have vacancies for Parish Councillors. To find out more read our co-option policy and contact the clerk.

The Parish Council and Mulbarton Wanderers CIC have agreed a 50-year lease on Mulberry Park. We are pleased to be in a position to provide support and stability to Mulbarton Wanderers Community Interest Company (CIC). The purpose of a CIC is  to provide a community benefit that can support a number of activities. The council looks forward to the development of the CIC and sees this as positive move.

Do you use bus service 37A? This is the service that runs to Norwich, Monday to Friday. It is currently under review for removal​. The deadline is 17 April for comments.

South Norfolk Community Award 2023 nominations are now open. The  awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of residents from across the district, who go above and beyond to support others or complete incredible achievements. To find out more and make nominations visit South Norfolk District Council's website.

An EGM has been called on Tuesday 14 March, see our "minutes and agenda" page for more information. 

Ørsted has committed to providing a Community Benefit Fund, worth £700,000, each year for an initial 10-year period from its Hornsea Three offshore wind farm development.

If you are a voluntary or community organisation looking for funding between £300 and £10,000 you may be able to apply for a grant from National Lottery Community Fund​.
